Welcome. I’m a Research Director in computer vision at Inria Paris, leading the Astra-Vision group. Previously, I worked in Mines Paris (2008-2011, 2013), Carnegie Mellon (2011), and Uni. of Makedonia (2014). I earned my HDR from Sorbonne in 2022. I regularly serve as Area Chair in major conferences (CVPR, ECCV, WACV, IROS, etc.), co-founded ACVSS and WSCV, and organize events (workshops at CVPR, CoRL, Indaba, etc). I am also an ELLIS member and a PR[AI]RIE-PSAI Fellow.

My research focuses on robust visual scene understanding, grounded in the physical world. Despite impressive performance across downstream tasks when trained on massive datasets, I believe vision models have yet to unlock the true potential of visual data, particularly for enabling frugal learning and interpretable world representations. I am a strong advocate of ethical research, and encourage slow science.
